BRIDGEPORT – By the time Cliff Miller steps into the pulpit at Bridgeport Community Church, he isn’t trying to sound like anyone else.
“I’m not that fire and brimstone guy,” Miller said. “I’m just a layman.”
That word—layman—comes up often when Miller talks about his new role as the church’s newly appointed pastor. Not because he takes the calling lightly, but because he wants people to understand what they’re getting: a pastor who speaks in plain language, tells the truth as he’s lived it, and doesn’t pretend he’s above anyone.
“We’re on the same ground,” he said. “We’re in the same ditch together. Fighting the same kind of battles.”
