A love for helping her furry friends

About three years ago, Tracy Tuggle of Scottsbluff began volunteering to help walk dogs at the Panhandle Humane Society. She said taking the dogs for walks on the Monument Valley Pathway is ‘just as rewarding for me as it is for the dogs.’

SCOTTSBLUFF – Every once in awhile, Tracy Tuggle of Scottsbluff would go for a walk/run on the Monument Valley Pathway, starting out by the Scottsbluff YMCA heading west.

“I’ve always loved to exercise,” she said, “and I love the beautiful scenery along the pathway.”

Another thing she loves is animals, and every time she walked on part of the pathway that goes past the Panhandle Humane Society, she thought about the animals inside, especially if she could hear the dogs barking.

One day about three years ago, she decided to stop into the Panhandle Humane Society to see if she could take one of the dogs for a walk.

“I thought it would be nice for the dog to get out into a different environment, even if it was just for a little bit,” she said.

The Panhandle Humane Society appreciated Tuggle’s offer to walk one of the dogs, and it wasn’t long before she started walking with a dog from the PHS every time she would walk on the pathway.
