BAYARD – Put Ed and Pauline Tafoya in a room full of kids, and chances are they’ll be there for a while, talking to them, teaching them various skills, and having a great time with them.

“We love being around kids,” Pauline said. “We’ve always enjoyed getting to know the kids and having fun with them. It makes us feel good to help them out.”

The Tafoyas, who have been married for a little over 60 years, have spent much of their lives teaching kids various skills and helping them to mature into respected adults. Ed is currently in his 55th year as a Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts volunteer in Bayard, and Pauline has spent more than 40 years working as a volunteer for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in Bayard.
