A soft spot in her heart for helping the elderly

Annette Oldaker believes the reason she was put on Earth is to help people, especially the elderly. She spent about 20 years working as a CNA and Medication Aide at Heritage in Gering and at the Mitchell Care Center, and for about the last 10 years, she’s been using her nursing skills and experience to help elderly people in her hometown of Harrison. She says she’s loved not only helping them but also getting to know them, including Margaret Dunn, whom Oldaker says has become her best friend.

HARRISON – Annette Oldaker of Harrison feels like she was put on Earth for a specific reason. And that reason, she said, “is to help out whoever needs help.”

Especially the elderly.

Just a few months after graduating from Harrison High School in 1990, Oldaker obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant license and Medication Aide license in Chadron.

“I’ve always enjoyed being around the elderly, so I figured I might as well help them, too, if I could,” she said.
