Alliance’s Kellen Muhr named Nspire Today!’s Male Athlete of the Month for August, sponsored by Kristy Culek Agency

ALLIANCE – Kellen Muhr, a senior at Alliance High School, is Nspire Today!’s Male Athlete of the Month for August, sponsored by Kristy Culek Agency, LLC-American Family Insurance. He’s a four-sport standout, competing in baseball, football, basketball, and golf. This summer marked Muhr’s fourth season of playing Legion baseball, including his third season with the Alliance Spartan seniors. He was named the Panhandle Conference’s Utility Player of the Year in 2020, and he was named the Panhandle Conference’s Infielder of the Year in 2019. This summer Muhr helped the Spartans capture a runner-up finish at state. In football, Muhr plays wide receiver and cornerback. He’ll be entering his third season as a starter. In basketball, Muhr plays shooting guard. He’ll be entering his second year as a starter. He earned All-Western Conference Honorable Mention honors in football and basketball last season. Muhr will be competing in golf for the second time next spring. He competed in track and field his first two years of high school. Also at school, Muhr is involved in FCA. Outside of school, he’s involved in the youth group at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Alliance. He has a 3.56 GPA. After high school, he plans to pursue a career in the medical field. His parents are Erica and Brett Muhr. For being named an athlete of the month, Kellen will receive a gift card for a free drink at Scooter’s Coffee.

Q: How have things been going for you in baseball?

MUHR: “It’s been going pretty well. We had a couple rough games this year, but overall, I thought we were pretty solid throughout the season.”

Q: How did this season go for you individually?

MUHR: “I thought I did pretty well. This is the best baseball season I’ve had.”

Q: What are your goals for the upcoming football season?

MUHR: “Individually, I just want to work hard and be a good teammate. I want to perform my best and help the team the best I can. Our team goal is to make it to the state playoffs.”
