BAYARD – Hunter Kildow, a senior at Bayard High School, is Nspire Today!’s Male Athlete of the Month for May, sponsored by Kristy Culek Agency, LLC-American Family Insurance. Kildow capped his sensational high school wrestling career with his third trip to the Nebraska state tournament in Omaha. He finished this season with a 27-8 record at 126 pounds. For his career, he piled up 105 wins. He started on the varsity wrestling team all four years. Kildow also was a three-year starter in football, playing both running back and defensive line. Also at school, Kildow participated in FFA, and he was an Honor Roll student. Kildow plans to attend school and compete in wrestling at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. He’s undecided on a major. His parents are Jeni Hove; and Mick and Darcy Kildow. For being named an athlete of the month, Hunter will receive a gift card for a free drink at Scooter’s Coffee.
Q: Describe how your high school wrestling career went.
KILDOW: “I thought it went pretty good. I had really good [regular seasons], but then I got a little nervous at state and didn’t do quite as well as I wanted to. But I was still happy with how I did overall. I accomplished more in my wrestling career than I thought I would.”
