Julie and George Schildt of Bridgeport have been collecting metallic tabs to help raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities for nearly 20 years. Their desire to help that organization, though, grew even more a couple years ago when they themselves stayed at the Ronald McDonald Donald House in Milwaukee while their young granddaughter was at the Milwaukee Children’s Hospital with a brain tumor.

BRIDGEPORT – When Kylie (Schildt) Sebero worked at Wildman’s Bar & Grill in Bridgeport years ago as a waitress, she enjoyed helping her boss collect pop and beer tabs. The money they received from recycling the aluminum tabs was donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities, which helps provide reduced or free lodging to families who have a child at one of the many Children’s Hospitals throughout the United States.
Kylie’s parents, Julie and George Schildt, learned about the program through their daughter, and they, too, wanted to help.
“We don’t drink a lot of pop or beer, but any time we have a chance to save one of those tabs, we do,” Julie said. “I thought it was a pretty easy way to give back to people who really need the help of the Ronald McDonald House.”
