Community members work together to help local restaurants

Press Release

A small team of community professionals are working together to create and frequently update a Facebook page for locals wanting to support small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Gering & Scottsbluff Local Menus” was created by Jeff Allen, who became increasingly concerned with the closures and orders for families to quarantine.

“I feel that it’s important to have one uniform page for people to refer to – an easy access page so we can continue to support our local businesses in this time of need,” Allen said.

The page features information such as carryout, curbside services and the establishment’s hours.

“Many locals are adding new menus every day,” Allen said.

Brenda Leisy, Director of the Scotts Bluff Area Visitors Bureau, said, “I joined in on Friday to help Jeff gather restaurant information. From a tourism standpoint, we need all these establishments for the folks that will come back to visit our community once travel restrictions have been lifted. We need to stand by each other during this time of need.”

The Facebook group is a free service, and organizers ask that no reviews, good or bad, be left on the page. It is a pro-business community service project and is not intended to tear anyone down.
