After graduating from high school, he plans to attend Chadron State College and major in wildlife management. His parents are Jason and Julie Van Beek.
Q: How has your senior year been going?
VAN BEEK: “It’s been going pretty good. I’m taking some classes that are really challenging, but it’s preparing me for what college will be like.”
Q: Does this school year seem a lot different to you because you’re a senior?
VAN BEEK: “Yes, it does feel different. I feels like I really have to push myself to get myself ready for what’s next after high school. It’s a little stressful, but not too much because I feel like I have the characteristics to succeed, and my parents help me through the struggles and the stress.”
Q: How important is getting excellent grades to you?
VAN BEEK: “Grades are really important to me. Growing up, my parents always set high standards for me, and I’ve always liked to push myself the best I can. I really want to make people proud. I know a lot of little kids at our school look up to me, so I try to set a good example for them.”
