Eager to carry on the family tradition of serving in the military

Jack Moomey, a senior at Alliance High School, has a number of family members and friends who served or are currently serving in the military. Moomey is eager to join the military himself soon after he graduates from high school – not only to carry on the family tradition but also because he’s passionate about serving his country, helping as many people as he can, and becoming the best person he can be.

ALLIANCE – Jack Moomey, a senior at Alliance High School, could spend hours talking about his family’s involvement in the military.

That’s understandable, considering the large number of people in his family who have served in the military.

“Patriotism is huge in our family,” he said. “All of us take a lot of pride in our country. We love America, and I think it’s really cool that we have a lot of family members who have served our country.”

His older sister, Saige Truesdell, for example, served in the Air Force, and her husband, Ronny Truesdell, is still active in the Air Force.

One of Jack’s uncles, Brian Moomey, has been in the military for about 30 years. He started out in the Air Force and is now part of the Wyoming Air Guard. Another one of Jack’s uncles, Jess Mllanx, spent four years in the Marine Corps.

Both of Jack’s grandfathers also served in the military. Brad Moomey, who lives just down the street from Jack in Alliance, spent five years in the Navy, and Warren Christophersen was in the Army for several years.

Jack said he has several other relatives who served in the military, too.

“I could keep going down the line of people in our family who served our country,” he said. “We probably have more veterans in our family than most families do. And even people in our family who didn’t serve in the military support the military and our country big-time. Like my grandma, Pat Moomey, she has American flags everywhere in her house. It’s really neat to see.”

Not surprisingly, Jack knew a long time ago that he, too, wanted to serve his country in the military.
