When Abbey Watters of Scottsbluff decided to start making candles in 2017, she did it as a fun hobby to fulfill her desire to be creative. But as more people learned about her cool-looking candles and wanted to buy them, she decided to turn her hobby into a business called Idlewylde Fire Candles. Her business has continued to grow in popularity, especially as she’s expanded her list of products to include not only jar candles but also dough bowl candles, succulent candles, wax melts, and squeezable wax melts. Her products are available at many stores throughout the WyoBraska region, and she also ships her products to many customers throughout the United States.

SCOTTSBLUFF – After having surgery in the fall of 2017, Abbey Watters spent the next few weeks recovering at her home in Scottsbluff.
During that time, she got bored, so she wanted to find something she could do that would be both fun and relaxing. She thought about making candles, which is something she first learned how to do as a child.
“My mom and grandma used to make candles for fun, and I would help them every now and then,” said Watters, a 1999 Hemingford High School graduate. “I remember using those old-school 70s candle kits that my mom and grandma had in their basement.”
