BRIDGEPORT – Cheree Fisher started working as a dispatcher jailer at 19 years old in 1998 and her career in law-enforcement progressed from there. Now, she is the Chief Deputy in Morrill County and it has been said, “She is an inspiration to people there.”
“I’ve lived in Morrill County my whole life,” said Fisher. “I love the small town. This area is a great community; it’s a great support. I’m not saying no other is like that, but this community really pulls together in times of need. So many businesses support the kids throughout their school years and everyone is really supportive of one another.”
Fisher hadn’t known what she wanted to be when she grew up, but after she had resigned from her job as a dispatcher jailer, the sheriff approached her and talked to her about coming back as a deputy.
“I was excited for the opportunity,” said Fisher. “I knew the area pretty well and what the job entailed.”
