Ann Hurt of Sidney started volunteering for King’s Daughters in 1987, and 34 years later she’s still involved in the charity, which provides various types of assistance to people in Sidney. Hunt said she’s remained with King’s Daughters for as long as she has because ‘when you give to other people, it fills your heart way more than when you receive.’

SIDNEY – When Ann Hurt moved to Sidney in 1980, she looked forward to meeting new people and eventually becoming involved in the community.
She met quite a few friendly people while teaching at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and a few years later, she found herself with an opportunity to also help make an impact in the community. One of her friends asked Hurt if she would be interested in volunteering for King’s Daughters, a non-profit group that helps people in Sidney with various needs.
Hurt was definitely interested.
“We were doing some Bible studies together, and I asked my friend who was involved in King’s Daughters what the organization was doing,” Hurt said. “She told me about all the wonderful things they had been doing for people, and she told me about the great group of ladies who were members. She then asked me if I would be interested in joining, and I was because I wanted to help our community in a service type of way. Also, I thought it would be a great way to meet other people and get involved in other things in the community.”
