Mike Minzey of Terrytown decided to become a tax preparer in 1979, and he spent the next 42 years filing taxes for thousands of people at H&R Block in Scottsbluff. The 76-year-old Minzey retired from H&R Block after this tax season, and he did so with lots of fond memories.

TERRYTOWN – Mike Minzey was 13 years old when he began working at a meat market in his hometown of Mishawaka, Indiana.
Toward the beginning of the next year, a letter came in the mail with Minzey’s name on it. It was his W2 tax form.
“I had no idea what it was,” said Minzey, who’s 76 now. “I showed it to my dad and said, ‘What do I do with it?’ He told me that’s how people file their income taxes.”
