FEATURE: Kimball woman using her cooking skills to bring joy to other people

Betti Burback started cooking and baking at a young age, and it eventually turned into a big passion of hers. Over the decades, the 84-year-old Kimball woman has had a blast creating tasty dinner meals, side dishes, appetizers, and lots of delicious desserts and other goodies – many of which are in two family cookbooks that have been published. The main reason she loves cooking and baking, though, is to bring happiness to other people, including family members, friends, co-workers, and especially people who are feeling down.

KIMBALL – Betti Burback’s kids, grandkids, friends, and co-workers never have to guess what they’ll be getting from her for Christmas.

They’ve grown accustomed to receiving a delicious mix of homemade goodies from the 84-year-old Burback, who’s lived in the country just north of Kimball for 65 years.

“I don’t buy them ‘stuff.’ I give all of them treats I’ve made,” Burback said with a laugh. “I love to make them peach jam and rhubarb jam, and they also get my homemade barbecue sauce, banana bread, pumpkin bread, and different kinds of homemade candy.”
