FEATURE: Crawford girl rising up the rodeo ranks

Crawford High School senior Jasmine Dyer has been excelling in rodeos, especially breakaway roping, for the last several years, and she’s having her best season yet this fall. Dyer, whose goals include making it back to the state finals next year and qualifying for nationals, said she wouldn’t be in the position she’s in today if it weren’t for the guidance provided by her mom, Tami, who was a rodeo standout herself while attending Sioux County High School and Casper College.

CRAWFORD – There’s multiple reasons why Jasmine Dyer of Crawford has developed into a pretty good breakaway roper.

But the biggest reason, she says, is because of her mom, Tami Dyer, who excelled at rodeos herself while attending Sioux County High School and then Casper College.

“I credit 99.9 percent of my success to her,” said Jasmine, a senior at Crawford High School. “We don’t have the money to go out and buy solidly trained breakaway horses, so we’ve had to do it ourselves, and my mom is a very good horseman. She’s taught me everything I know about training a horse and competing in breakaway roping.”
