FEATURE: Scottsbluff’s MarLee Neu adding to her success in livestock judging

2020 Scottsbluff High School graduate MarLee Neu, who enjoyed lots of success in livestock judging in high school FFA, has become a key contributor on the livestock judging team at Northeastern Junior College. Neu, who’s also involved in showing livestock in 4-H, said she’s glad she decided to compete in livestock judging in college, for it’s not only been a fun experience but also a good learning experience that she knows will help her as she pursues a career in animal science.

SCOTTSBLUFF – Last year when MarLee Neu went on a college visit to Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado, she was primarily interested in learning more about the college’s ag classes and what the campus looked like.

She wasn’t expecting to join NJC’s livestock judging team, even though she had enjoyed a successful livestock judging career with the FFA program at Scottsbluff High School.

Fortunately for Neu, she had a chance meeting with NJC’s livestock judging coach in the hallway at school, and he and Neu began talking about the college’s program.

“He told me a little bit about the team and all the traveling they do, and then he asked me about my experience in livestock judging, what my grades were like, and if I would be interested in joining the team,” Neu said. “It kind of surprised me, but I was excited about it.”
