FEATURE: ‘So many people are shocked that I’m able to do the things I can do today’

Arlowe Fibelstad of Bayard was told by doctors that he likely would never walk again after injuring his spinal cord and becoming paralyzed when a stack of heavy hay bales fell on top of him in 2018. Fibelstad, however, was determined to have a different outcome, and amazingly that’s what happened as he eventually was able to walk again. Although he’s not in the same physical condition he was in before the injury, he said he feels grateful for the miracle that’s allowed him to at least be able to walk on his own, feed and bathe himself, help with tasks inside and outside the house, and enjoy life once again.
