Ashlee Gompert was a standout runner at Morrill High School, and she’s continued to achieve success competing in half marathons, marathons and other road races over the years. She said she’s never lost her love for running because it’s helped her lose weight after having four children in the last nine years, and it’s also helped her have the energy to take care of a big family, run her own flower business, and be a high school cross country head coach. Now 32, Gompert feels like she’s in the best shape she’s been in since high school and college, and her goal this year is to run fast enough to qualify for the 2022 Boston Marathon.

MORRILL – Ashlee (Hudson) Gompert of Morrill has never considered herself to have the figure of what she calls a typical long-distance runner.
“I’m pretty heavy, so I definitely don’t have your average body build for a runner,” she said.
But she’s never let that stop her from enjoying long distance running – or achieving lots of success in it.
“It kind of feeds my fuel when I beat someone who has the typical image of a runner,” Gompert, who’s 32, said with a laugh.
