Clayton and Taelar Krause always hoped they would someday run their own business, and they got that opportunity a little over five years ago when the meat market in Hemingford went up for sale. Taking over that business wasn’t necessarily an easy decision, though, for the Krause family, who had lived in Texas their whole lives. But Clayton and Taelar as well as Clayton’s parents, D’ann and Clint, decided to take a leap of faith and move from Texas to Hemingford to start running the meat market, which they re-named to Table Top Meats. That ended up being a good decision for them because not only has their business flourished over the years, but they’ve also grown to love living in Hemingford so much that they couldn’t imagine living anywhere else now.

HEMINGFORD – When Clayton Krause and his wife, Taelar, graduated from Texas Tech University in 2014 and 2015, respectively, they talked a lot about their future, including what they wanted to do for careers.
Both of them desired to do something in ag, especially since Taelar graduated from college with an animal science degree and Clayton graduated with a meat science degree. One of the things they talked about was eventually owning their meat market.
“That’s been Clayton’s lifelong dream,” Taelar said. “We didn’t think that would happen until much later in life, though.”
