FEATURE: Turning her love for lemonade into a successful business

For more than a decade, the fear of failure kept Desiree Ramirez of Gering from pursuing her dream of starting her own freshly-squeezed lemonade business out of a food trailer. She finally took the leap of faith last year, however, and she’s glad she did because her business, called Lemon Love, has become super popular with both kids and adults.

GERING – Like clockwork, Desiree Ramirez knows she’ll get asked the question at some point nearly every week.

“Someone will say, ‘Are you really making a living selling lemonade?’” she said.

It’s OK, though. Ramirez, who lives in Gering, isn’t offended by the question. It’s quite the opposite, in fact, because it reminds her that she made a great decision about a year ago – to pursue her dream of opening her own food trailer business, which she named Lemon Love.

She recently celebrated her one-year anniversary of being in business – a highly successful business, that is.

“I never thought it would become this big,” she said with a grin.
