FEATURE: Uplifting people with quilts

Jennifer Lanier of Fort Laramie didn’t start quilting until about five years ago, but she’s already accomplished quite a bit as a quilter, including serving a two-year term as president of the Goshen County Quilt Guild and winning several ribbons at area quilt shows. The main reason she’s grown to love quilting, though, is that it gives her an opportunity to make something beautiful that she can give to someone to bring that person happiness.

FORT LARAMIE, Wyo. – Not long after Jennifer Lanier moved from Indiana to Fort Laramie, Wyoming, seven years ago, she decided to attend a quilt show in Goshen County.

She wasn’t a quilter herself, but she thought it might be something fun to do for the day.

As soon as she walked into the event, her eyes lit up.

“There were beautiful quilts all over the place,” she said. “I’ve always liked going to art shows and galleries, but these quilts were bigger and more brilliant. It was amazing.”
