SCOTTSBLUFF – The life of a pastor can be pretty demanding, so husband and wife duo April and Jeff Fiet, the pastors of the Presbyterian Church in Scottsbluff, found an interesting solution to the problem. They decided to be co-pastors.
“I went to college in the Chicago area, Wheaton, Illinois,” said April. “Jeff went to Trinity Christian in Palos Heights. I received a Bachelors in Communications and a Masters in Divinity. Jeff has a Bachelors of music and math, and a Masters in Divinity.”
“Music was my love,” said Jeff, “and math came easy for me. My dad was an accountant for 30 plus years.”
Interestingly enough, the Fiets may be one of the first love matches brought together through the internet.
“It’s a funny story,” said Jeff. “We met on AOL Instant Messenger when that was a thing. You could search by common interests and we were both interested in music. Within a couple hours of chatting her roommate got on her computer, typed April’s phone number, and told me to call her. I’m deathly afraid of phones, but I called her anyway.”
