FOCUS ON FAITH: Mitchell pastor says ‘God came calling me’

Kevin Fink of Scottsbluff developed a passion for working for the Nebraska State Patrol, and he did that for three years before a heart valve problem forced him to step away from law enforcement. He was devastated at first, but he soon realized God had a different plan for him – serving others as a pastor. Fink spent about 20 years as a pastor in southeast Nebraska before retiring and moving with his family to Scottsbluff about one and a half years ago. He’s now preaching again, as he took over the pastoral duties at The Federated Church of Mitchell in December.

MITCHELL – Kevin Fink had a lot of respect for his dad and his uncle, who both spent a number of years involved in law enforcement.

As for working in law enforcement himself, well, Fink didn’t want anything to do with that.

“I resisted it for quite some time,” he said. “I just didn’t think it was for me.”
