SCOTTSBLUFF – Russ Garrett grew up on a farm north of Central City, Nebraska, and he has taken a bit of a round-a-bout route to becoming the General Director of Christian Media Inc. (CMI) in Scottsbluff.

CMI is the parent ministry for the KCMI 97.1 FM radio station and the CrossReference Library. According to kcmifm.com, “The radio station went on the air in 1981…it is the only true locally Christian radio station in the area. Listeners are able to enjoy a strong mix of quality Biblical teaching and Christian music.”

Garrett originally sought out a career as a pilot, which led him to work at a series of airports.

“I moved from Central City to Grand Island where I worked at their airport,” Garrett said. “Then I moved to Denver and worked at the Stapleton Airport, then Cheyene, and then Scottsbluff.”
