GERING – Avery Mitchell, a senior at Gering High School, is Nspire Today!’s Female Athlete of the Month for October, sponsored by Kristy Culek Agency, LLC-American Family Insurance. Mitchell captured a third-place finish in the district golf tournament with a season-low 80, qualifying her for the Nebraska Class B state tournament for the third time. As a team, Gering earned a runner-up finish at districts and qualified for state. Mitchell has been on Gering’s varsity golf team all four years. Last season, she placed 11th at state. Her career-best tournament score is a 77. She also is a key player on Gering’s varsity soccer team. Her parents are Sally and John Mitchell.
