Getting back on the right track

Edward Salazar of Alliance said he made a lot of poor choices when he was younger, including some that even got him into trouble with the law. However, he got his life turned around, and now his main focus in life is on trying to help and encourage other people.

ALLIANCE – A big smile glided across Edward Salazar’s face Saturday, Feb. 29, a little over an hour before the Special Olympics’ Polar Plunge was scheduled to take place at the YMCA Camp in Scottsbluff.

Edwards, who lives in Alliance and owns and operates Electrowave Entertainment, was there as a volunteer. He set up speakers and other sound system equipment for event organizers, just like he’s done at the Polar Plunge for the past five years.

“I love helping out wherever I can,” the 51-year-old Salazar said. “I think everyone should volunteer for something that they believe in. There’s nothing like that warm, fuzzy feeling you get from doing something nice for someone else.”
