SCOTTSBLUFF – After working as an admissions clerk at Regional West Medical Center for 18 years, Margaret Fiegel decided to retire in December 2002 at the age of 65.

She looked forward to having some time to relax.

“I wanted to take a month off [January 2003] so I could give myself a little break,” she said, smiling.

When that month was over, however, Fiegel returned to work at the hospital in early February 2003 – not as a paid employee but as a volunteer in the gift shop.

“I was asked if I would be interested in being a volunteer at the hospital, and it sounded like a good way to give a little back to what the hospital had given to me for so many years,” she said.
