‘I knew where God wanted me to be’

Jon Simpson grew up helping his parents spread the word of God to people in many cities. He later graduated from Bible college, and then he spent the next 20-plus years continuing to serve in ministry. But after two failed attempts at planting churches, Simpson felt discouraged and burned out, so he stepped away from ministry and became a very successful salesperson. He realized, however, that wasn’t what God was calling him to do for the rest of his life, so he got back into ministry, and now he’s a highly motivated, excited, and eager-to-make-an-impact senior pastor at Mitchell Berean Church.

MITCHELL – To say Jon Simpson moved around a lot as a youngster might be an understatement.

He and his family moved about eight different times before he graduated in 1988 from Augusta High School in Augusta, Montana. Simpson, however, didn’t mind moving around the western part of the United States so often.

“The first move I remember, I was about 6 years old,” said Simpson, who’s now 49 and is the senior pastor at Mitchell Berean Church. “We were leaving Montana and headed for Indiana, and I remember looking out the back window being excited about our future. That’s how it was every time we moved. I was excited about having new opportunities.”
