‘I’m blessed I’m still alive’

Brooke Heine wondered if she was going to die after suffering three strokes in February. However, the 36-year-old Scottsbluff woman made it through those strokes, and she’s doing much better now. She’s grateful she still gets to enjoy life, including spending time with her husband and their children, and she said the trauma she went through has helped her grow even more in her faith and focus even more on the important things in life.

SCOTTSBLUFF – The day before Valentine’s Day, Brooke Heine started to develop a little headache. She didn’t think much of it, figuring it would go away soon.

Although Heine still had a headache the next day, it wasn’t bad, so she continued to shrug it off. Later in the day, however, when she was driving from Scottsbluff to her family’s home near Mitchell, she started to feel dizzy and “got what felt like tunnel vision.”

She pulled over to the side of the road and had her 15-year-old son, Hayden, drive the rest of the way home.
