Carol Stimka of Sidney decided to start volunteering for the Meals on Wheels program 25 years ago. She still enjoys helping the program today – both as a delivery driver and as the head coordinator.

SIDNEY – One day about 25 years ago, Carol Stimka was working in the physical therapy department at what was then called Memorial Hospital in Sidney when she and other employees learned that volunteers were needed to help with Sidney’s Meals on Wheels, a program that’s part of the Aging Office of Western Nebraska.
Stimka said she would be happy to help.
“I always knew it was good program, but I hadn’t really thought about being a volunteer before that,” she said. “There were several people around the hospital who agreed to help out. I thought it was something I could do on my lunch time.”
