Bridgette Lowther, a senior at Lingle-Ft. Laramie High School who’s also on pace to earn an associate’s degree this year from EWC, has always had a desire to help people since she herself has relied on other people to help her while she’s battled a disease called psoriasis. She’s currently working as a CNA at Goshen Care Center, and she’ll soon start working on earning her BSN degree from UNL. Her biggest dream, she said, is to help people as a registered nurse.

FORT LARAMIE, Wyo. – There was a time not too long ago when Bridgette Lowther of Fort Laramie, Wyoming, was planning to pursue a career in criminal justice.
But she took a class related to criminal justice last year, and she quickly changed her mind.
“I realized that criminal justice definitely wasn’t for me. I just wasn’t into it,” she said. “I still wanted to help people, but it was going to have to be in a different career.”
Lowther, a senior at Lingle-Ft. Laramie High School, wasn’t sure which direction she wanted to go career-wise. A medical terminology class she took in January, however, sparked her interest in the medical field.
She decided to take another medical class through Eastern Wyoming College – a certified nursing assistant course – and that made her realize what she should do with her life.
“I absolutely fell in love with the medical field, especially nursing,” she said. “Ever since then, my goal has been to learn more about nursing and to eventually become a RN.”
