CocoShack, located at 802 W 3rd St. in Chadron, is a distinctive boutique that has rapidly become a cherished destination for both locals and visitors since its opening in June 2023. Founded and solely owned by Lee Ann Wyatt, a Chadron native with a rich background in interior design consulting, the store reflects her passion for unique and eclectic offerings.

A Diverse Array of Offerings

CocoShack prides itself on its eclectic mix of products that cater to a wide range of interests:

Vintage and Antiques: The store offers a curated selection of vintage furniture and antique pieces, attracting enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Gifts and Home Décor: Shoppers can find unique gifts and home décor items, many of which are sourced from local artisans, ensuring that each piece has a story and a connection to the community.

Chocolates and Candies: For those with a sweet tooth, CocoShack offers a selection of chocolates and candies, including the very popular truffles that have become a customer favorite.

Garage Sale Room: On the west end of the store, there’s a dedicated garage sale room filled with an ever-changing assortment of treasures, making each visit a new experience.

Commitment to Local Artisans

A cornerstone of CocoShack’s philosophy is its dedication to supporting local vendors. The store showcases products such as local honey, salts, jams, jellies, crocheted potholders, and Nebraska-made art. A couple of collaborations are with Laka Herb Farm, an herbal farm offering seven plant-based salves designed for various ailments, from skin issues to anxiety. These salves have garnered a loyal following among customers seeking natural remedies and also Nebraska Tallow which features the ever so popular Tallow Products.

In its inaugural year, CocoShack’s unique approach and community involvement were recognized when it was awarded the 2023 New Business of the Year by the local Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, the store has been selected as one of the stops for the Nebraska 2025 Passport program, highlighting its status as a must-visit destination in the state.

CocoShack places a strong emphasis on customer service, particularly in the art of packaging. When customers select items as gifts, the staff goes above and beyond to wrap and package them beautifully, adding ribbons and bows at no extra charge. This attention to detail enhances the overall shopping experience and ensures that each gift feels special.

One of the aspects that keeps customers returning is the store’s dynamic nature. The inventory and layout change weekly, offering new discoveries with each visit. This constant evolution ensures that even regular patrons find something new and exciting every time they step through the doors.

Beyond its retail offerings, CocoShack is deeply embedded in the community.  Looking ahead, there are considerations to utilize the store’s full kitchen to offer food-related services, potentially adding another dimension to the CocoShack experience.

Lee Ann Wyatt’s journey back to Chadron is both personal and professional. After spending over two decades in Los Angeles, where she established a successful consulting company specializing in a software system for interior designers, she returned to her hometown to care for her aging parents. Her father, Dave Wyatt, was a well-known physical therapist at the local hospital for nearly 40 years. Lee Ann’s decision to open CocoShack was driven by a desire to contribute to the community and stay engaged in creative endeavors. Her background in interior design is evident in the store’s thoughtfully curated displays and unique merchandise.

CocoShack offers more than just products; it provides an experience. The store is evolving rapidly weekly. Customers often remark on the store’s inviting atmosphere and the sense of discovery as they browse through the diverse selection. Whether you’re searching for a unique gift, a piece of vintage furniture, or simply wish to explore a store that embodies the spirit of Chadron, CocoShack is a destination worth visiting.
