‘No one fights alone’

Kaldon Meininger, a 2015 Scottsbluff High School graduate who lives with his wife in Crawford, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma two and a half years ago at age 21. Meininger beat cancer, however, and he says the strong support he received from family and friends – as well as the many blessings he received from God – helped him make it through that difficult time.

CRAWFORD – Kaldon Meininger was getting a few errands done on June 10, 2017, when he thought about stopping by Angela’s Bridal and Boutique in downtown Scottsbluff.

Meininger, who was 21 years old at the time, was asked to be a groomsman in his friend’s wedding in October 2017, so he needed to get fitted for a tuxedo. Initially, he had planned to get fitted for his tux on one of the weekends he was back in Scottsbluff during the fall, when he would be attending classes at Chadron State College.

Rather than wait until the fall to get fitted for a tux, however, Meininger decided to get it out of the way, so he stopped at Angela’s Bridal and Boutique while he was out running errands on that day in June.

As he was getting fitted, one of the store employees noticed what appeared to be swelling around part of Meininger’s neck.

“He said, ‘Hey, what’s going on with your neck?’” Meininger said. “I said, ‘What are you talking about? There’s nothing wrong with my neck.’ Then he said, ‘Well, it’s really swollen.’”
