Julio Bernal says food drive that was held during the month of March will help feed many people in the area who have food insecurities

Julio Bernal, president of the Scottsbluff/Gering Community Soup Kitchen, always smiles when he sees food – in any amount – that’s ready to be taken to the soup kitchens in the area.
There’s a big need for food in this area, he said, so that’s why he appreciates donations and food drives, such as the one done in March by Nspire Today! and Northfield Retirement Communities.
Nspire Today! and NRC partnered up to collect food throughout the month of March for the Scottsbluff/Gering Community Soup Kitchen. NRC used its two locations – The Residency in Scottsbluff and The Vista in Gering – as food dropoff locations. Several area groups, including the local high school Key Clubs, also pitched in to help collect food. Many community members dropped off food directly to churches that host soup kitchens each week.
