MITCHELL – Grace Martin, a senior at Mitchell High School, is Nspire Today!’s Female Student of the Month for January. She has a 4.0 GPA, and she’s in her second year in National Honor Society. Other school activities she’s involved in this school year are FBLA, Tigers Committed, basketball, and golf. She’s lettered all three years she’s been in FBLA. In basketball, she’s in her second year as a starting guard/post on the varsity team. After high school, she plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She’s undecided on a college major. Her parents are Zach and Tori Martin.
Q: How has your high school career gone so far academically?
MARTIN: “I feel like it’s been going pretty well. My goal coming into high school [was to maintain a 4.0 GPA], so I’m excited about that, especially since I’ve been involved in so many different activities.”
Q: What’s been the key for you to excel academically throughout high school?
MARTIN: “One of the biggest things is using my time wisely. I also see my teachers if I have questions about anything. I think something else that’s important is the emphasis our school places on academics. I was told at a young age that school work is more important and always comes before sports, so that’s always motivated me.”
