After not having a FCA Huddle in Alliance for a while, Brian Shelmadine, a 1998 Alliance High School graduate, and his wife, Ivy, and some other adult volunteers helped get it back up and running last fall. The FCA Huddle has been drawing dozens of kids each week, and adult leaders hope it continues to grow in the future so it can impact even more students while also making a difference in the schools and the community.

ALLIANCE – After graduating from Alliance High School in 1998, Brian Shelmadine attended college and then began his career working in the medical field.
He was away from Alliance for about 20 years, but then about five years ago, he returned to Alliance to work and also live in the community with his wife, Ivy, and their four children.
Not long after coming back to Alliance, Brian noticed that he wasn’t hearing anything about a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle in Alliance. That caught his attention since FCA had been a big part of his life during his last two years of high school.
“I saw a Facebook post one day that showed all the Huddles in western Nebraska that were going to be sending students to the Weekend of Champions in Grand Island. I didn’t see Alliance on there,” he said. “So, I have some friends in Gering who were part of FCA there, and I called them and asked, ‘Hey, how come Alliance isn’t represented on this list?’ That’s when I learned that Alliance no longer had a FCA Huddle.”
Actually, it had been quite awhile since a FCA Huddle was present in Alliance. Brian, along with his wife, desired to change that.
