OBITUARY: Alvin M. Asa of Morrill

Alvin M. Asa, 87, of Morrill, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021, at his home surrounded by family.  His memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2021, in Henry Bible Church at Henry with Pastor Mike Meysenburg officiating. Private family interment will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery at Morrill with military honors provided by the Nebraska Army National Guard. Alvin was born July 24, 1933, at Morrill, Nebraska to Alton and Grace (Hauptman) Asa. He was delivered by his grandfather, Dr. A.L. Asa. He grew up at Morrill, attending Pleasant Grove Elementary School and graduated from Liberty High School in 1951.

On June 22, 1952, he married Peggy Bowlin at rural Morrill. They farmed and ranched north of Morrill. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1956 and served with the 11th Armored Cavalry on Germany Border Patrol, being discharged in 1958. Alvin then returned to Morrill where he farmed and ranched north of Morrill his entire life.

He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church, which later became Henry Bible Church; Gideons International for 53 years; and a board member of the Production Credit Association for 16 years.

Survivors include his wife Peggy; son Greg (Susie) Asa and their children Alexis and Eli; daughter HolliLynn (Glen) Yetter and their sons Brandon (Micaiah) Yetter and their children Noah and Jaeyln, and Philip (Amber) Yetter and their children Michael, Elizabeth, Alyssa, Lindsey, and Kayla; sister Virginia Waterman of Casper, Wyoming; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Shirley Lee, four-year-old sister, Mary Ann, and sister, Beverly Jo Asa; one sister-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.
