OBITUARY: Beverley J. “Aunt Bev” McDaniel of Bayard

Beverley J. “Aunt Bev” McDaniel, 83, of Bayard, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard.  Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 28, 2019 at the Bayard Church of Christ with Pastor Bill Ferrero officiating.  Burial will follow at the Bayard Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Thursday, June 27th at the church.  Memorials may be given to Chimney Rock Villa or the Bayard Fire and Rescue Department.  Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com

Bev was born November 15, 1935 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska to John Wilbur and Shirley Marion (DeVore) Willey.  She attended rural country school near Bayard, graduating from Bayard High School with the Class of 1954.  On May 26, 1955 she was united in marriage to Fred McDaniel at Bayard.  The couple lived on a ranch north of Mitchell for a few years before moving back to Bayard.  They purchased a farm northeast of Bayard where they made their home.

Bev worked during the sugar beet campaign for several years as a lab tech.  She also was a cook for the Migrant School, and later became head cook at the school until her retirement.

Bev was a member of the Church of Christ, the American Legion Auxiliary, was a Boy Scout leader for several years, school class parent, and co-founder of J and B.

For the past four years, Bev made her home at the Villa where she re-connected with many friends.  She will be missed by all who had the privilege and honor of knowing and loving her.

Bev is survived by her children Don McDaniel of Bayard, Carolyn (John) Annenof Hemingford, and Rich McDaniel (Cindy Buchmeier) of Bayard; grandchildren Michelle (Chris) Fries of Gering, Melissa Annen of Hemingford, and Ethan McDaniel of Gering; great-grandchildren Audrey and Abbigail Fries, and Kinzee, Madison, and Payton Swanson; sister Evelyn Van Camp of Lancaster, OH, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-grandson Jake Swanson, brother Clinton Willey, and sister Lorraine Willey.
