Carl was born at his parents, Charles and Henrietta (Lipska) Schneider, farm home north of Redington, Nebraska on May 3, 1927. He completed his 8th grade education at Morrill County District 11 log school house at Redington. He attended high school at Sidney St. Patrick’s Academy and Bridgeport District 63, graduating in 1945 from Bridgeport. Shortly after graduation, he entered the U.S. Army courtesy greetings from the President of the United States. He served until December 1946 when he was honorably discharged with recommendation for further service.
Carl returned to the family farm to assist his elderly parents with the farm and began farm operations with his brother. He met and dated Kathryn Asmus. His heart and mind told him “this lady is right.” She accepted his proposal and they were married February 28, 1948 at Bayard, Nebraska. 5 sons were born to the couple.
Carl and Kathryn purchased the farm from his mother and with willing and capable hands of wife and boys the dryland farm became a pump irrigation farm, to supply the needs of the family. School, 4-H, FFA activities, and projects became a family affair. Carl was capable of repairing, welding, and providing the mechanical needs of the farm. He assisted and encouraged the boys to learn those skills as well. He had a profound love for the family, soil, crops, livestock, and other creatures in this nation in which one may pursue their dreams.
Carl attended high school classes at Sidney St. Patrick’s Academy. Carl was part of many boards, organizations and volunteer services, was certified in Nebraska as a Hunter Safety Instructor and Professional Substance Abuse Counselor. Carl earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Human Services at the age55 and was elected to Who’s Who Among Students at American Junior College.
In 2006 Kathryn and Carl moved to Bridgeport leaving the home where he was born nearly 80 years before. The Lord called Kathryn home in 2012 and Carl applied for admission to Western Nebraska Veterans Home and was accepted in 2013 nearly a year after her passing. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
