OBITUARY: Damaso Moreno-Gonzalez of Gering

Damaso Moreno-Gonzalez, age 82, of Gering, Nebraska, died on November 10, 2021 at Monument Rehabilitation and Care. A visitation will be at Gering Memorial Chapel on Monday, November 15, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm with praying of the rosary at 6:00pm with Father Mike McDonald officiating. Funeral services will be held in Mission, Texas, with burial at Repueblo de Oriente Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.geringchapel.com 

Damaso was born on March 27, 1939, in Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Bernadino Moreno-Vela and Cecilia Gonzalez. He married Maria de los Angeles Montemayor on January 7, 1968 in Nuevo Leon and they later made their home in Gering. This union was blessed with four children, Eleno, Leonor, Lucila, and Edgar. Damaso was a welder for Brown and Root in Houston, Texas, and worked in agriculture across the U.S. He enjoyed long walks in the park and family events filled with music and food. He cherished his time with his children, but most of all, he loved and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Survivors include children, Eleno Moreno, Leonor Moreno, Lucila Moreno, and Edgar Moreno; grandchildren, Abigail Moreno, Emmanuel Moreno, and Deloria Moreno; and great grandchildren, Emilio and Marisol. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria de los Angeles Montemayor.
