OBITUARY: Donna G. Pigotti of Bridgeport

Donna G. Pigotti, age 87 of Bridgeport, Nebraska passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at Linden Estates in North Platte.

Her memorial service will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Church of Christ in Bridgeport with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Inurnment will follow at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department.  Online condolences may be left at www.bridgeportmemorialchapel.com.  Bridgeport Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donna was born at home on October 15, 1933, to Mary (Covalt) and Donald McMann on what was known as the “Paul Place” east of Angora, Nebraska. Donna attended various elementary schools in Western Nebraska and Eastern Wyoming then graduated from Alliance High School in 1951.

On September 13, 1953, Donna married Joe Pigotti, Jr at the First Baptist Church in Alliance. The couple made their home on the Peterson ranch, east of Angora, and raised three children, Jodine, Dan and Kay. The family enjoyed their life together in the Sandhills. In the fall of 1970, Donna started working at the DeGraw Sugar Beet Dump and worked until it closed in the early ‘90’s.

In 1988, Joe and Donna bought a farm/ranch 6 miles east of Bridgeport where they continued to ranch and transitioned to farming.  In October 2020 they moved to North Platte to be closer to family.

The couple enjoyed bowling, square dancing and their various Pinochle card clubs. Donna also enjoyed crafting, crocheting, sewing and her summer afternoon swimming hour. She will always be remembered for her chokecherry jelly and frog-eyed salad and her willingness to play a game of cards with her kids and grandchildren.

Donna was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Mary and Harold Glarum and brother Jim McMann.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joe of North Platte; children Jodine (Jack) Arensdorf of Sutherland, Dan Pigotti of Austin, TX and Kay (Doug) Wright of North Platte; half sister Shirley Shepherd of Baytown, TX; grandchildren Tonia (Luke) McConnell of Hershey, Shawn (Starla) Arensdorf of North Platte, Kimberly (Troy) Connick of Paxton, Kaitlyn (Alex) Arthur of North Platte, Brandi (Shawn) Jording of Lincoln, Erin Wright of Topeka, KS and step grandchild Mike Arensdorf of Sutherland; 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
