Jose G. “Joe” Marquez, 72, of Bayard, passed away at home on Thursday, October 14, 2021. A private family visitation and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Bayard with Pastor Larry Russell officiating. Joe was born November 17, 1949 at Labor Nueva Chihuahua, Mexico to Juan and Josefina (Ochoa) Marquez. He was united in marriage to Leonora Patricia Gonzalez on March 7, 1976 at Bayard, Nebraska. The couple made their home and raised their family in Bayard.
Joe owned his own construction company for over three decades and worked on numerous homes in the panhandle. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and always enjoyed when they would visit him.
Joe is survived by his wife Leonora Marquez; son: Johnny (Joell) Aguirre; daughters: Trish (John) Carter, Josie (Drake) Schopen, Victoria (Cesar) Barraza, and Valarie (Travis) Leonard; grandchildren: Tyler Aguirre, Alli Aguirre, Jack Carter, Trey Aguirre, Taylor Aguirre, Grace Schopen, Avianna Barraza, Cesar Alexander Barraza, Grayson Leonard, and London Leonard; great-grandchildren Havyn and Lennon Jennings and Blair Aguirre; several brothers, sisters, and extended family members.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
