Josepha Torres, 75, of Scottsbluff, was welcomed into Heaven on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2022 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering with Father Mike McDonald as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery near Morrill. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff with a Rosary beginning at 6 p.m. Services will be livestreamed and recorded to Josepha’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com. Memorials may be made in care of the family.
Josepha was born May 4, 1946 in Mathis, Texas to Gregorio and Anita (Hernandez) Gomez. She was united in marriage to Evaristo Torres.
She devoted her entire life to being a loving homemaker. Josepha’s nurturing spirit made her a mom and grandma figure to everyone. She could be old-fashioned and strict, but her love was always present. She was outgoing and stayed active maintaining her household. Her ultimate joy was spending time with her family.
She was a fabulous cook, treating her family to homemade tortillas and her signature gravy. Josepha enjoyed camping and cooking outdoors as well. She was a talented seamstress, sewing many creations and mending throughout her life. Josepha also liked dancing and listening to music.
Survivors include her children, Evaristo (Lupe) Torres, Herminia Gomez, Ramon Torres, Gilbert (Yolanda) Torres, Evangelina (Jorge Cantu) Torres, Juan Torres, Celia Torres, Eva (Santos) Gonzales, Consuelo Torres, and Lydia (Josh) Weinmaster; 74 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; siblings, Rosendo, Emilio, Luis, Gregorio, Oralia, Angie, Juana, Nina, Norma, David, and Isabel; along with countless extended family members and friends.
Josepha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Evaristo; sons, Ernesto, Daniel, and Jose; daughters, Theresa and Lenore; brother, Juan; grandson, George; and multiple great grandchildren.
