Joyce Einfalt, 80 of Gering passed away at her home surrounded by her children after a lengthy battle with cancer. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at West Way Christian Church with Pastor Joe Peterson officiating. The service will be livestreamed through Gering Memorial Chapel’s Facebook page. At her request, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Regional West Hospice. Joyce was born at St. Mary’s Hospital on September 15, 1940 to Alice (Hagen) and Henry Hessler. Joyce was the only girl in a house full of boys. Joyce graduated from Gering High School.
On March 15, 1967, Joyce married James Einfalt. The couple made their home in the Western Nebraska Valley. They raised four children, Gary, Shelly, John and Jama. Joyce began working at Grampy’s Pancake House, Housing Authority and ended her career working at Gering Bakery. Joyce was always serving others as she loved to care for the needs of her family.
The couple enjoyed bowling, traveling and camping at Little Lake Alice with the Livingston and Reed families. Joyce also enjoyed crafting, crocheting, and sewing. She will always be remembered for her uncanny sense of humor, fun loving spirit, as well as her cooking.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband James, parents Alice and Henry, brother Floyd and sister-in-law Ann Hessler, brother Ron and sister-in-law Loretta Hessler.
She is survived by her loving family, brother Bill (Mary Ann) Hessler of Gering, brother Darrell (Wendy) Hessler of Topeka, KS, sister-in-law Cecelia Einfalt of Gallup, NM, son Gary (Andre) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, daughter Shelly (Leland) of Topeka, KS, son John (Katie) of Gering and daughter Jama Einfalt of Topeka, KS, several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews that she loved as her own.
