OBITUARY: Larry David Becker

Larry David Becker, 88, passed peacefully on January 14, 2021 at Regional West Medical Center following a short illness. Family and friends may visit Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel Tuesday, January 19 from 3-5 pm. Due to the Corona virus, private family services will be held with burial at Fairview Cemetery.

Larry was born on May 9, 1932 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to David E and Mollie (Miller) Becker. He was educated at Lake Alice School and then returned to the family farm to work with his father. He was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Church in Scottsbluff. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Patricia (Snider) and they began farming as a couple. By 1967, they bought the home place where they then lived for the next 53 years. Together they dedicated their life to farming: raising potatoes, sugar beets, edible beans, corn, cattle and their children, Cynthia, Jeffrey and Shelly.

Larry loved being a farmer, but most of all he loved his family with a deep, devoted passion! His favorite times were spent with extended family at his Grandmother’s birthday each summer or at Christmas time with children and their spouses. Later in life, he enjoyed watching his five grandchildren in various activities. As the years passed, eight great grandchildren were added to the family and drop in visits were always a welcomed surprise! Larry’s passion was playing cards, with friends, with son-in-laws and even with grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Patricia, daughter Cindy (Britt) Bowen of Morrill, son Jeff (Kim) Becker of Scottsbluff, and Shelly (Garret) Falkenburg of Douglas, WY; grandchildren Chris Becker of Scottsbluff, Josh (Nicole) Becker of Laramie, WY, Amber (Dustin) Lee of Pine Bluffs, WY, Clint (Morgan) Bowen of Papillion, NE and Mitch (Lindsay) Falkenburg of Douglas, WY; eight great grandchildren, and his siblings: sisters Betty Grasmick of Omaha and Pat (John) Hardt of Scottsbluff and brother Albert (Shirley) Becker also of Scottsbluff, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law Eli and Ida Snider, sister Virginia Cook, brothers-in-law Elmer Cook and Art Grasmick and Godson Greg Becker.
