Mary Alice Pettis went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2021 at the age of 83. She was born January 24, 1938 to George and Lyida (Minch) Heckman in Sheridan, Wyoming. She was adopted at the age of 6 by Herbert and Alma (Guckenberg) Peterson.
She attended schools in Guernsey, Wyoming and Torrington, Wyoming. She was a member of the first Licensed Practical Nurse program at WNCC in 1971-1972. She worked as a LPN for 25 years at the old St. Mary’s Hospital, later RWMC, and area nursing homes. She worked for the State of Nebraska doing home care until her retirement in 2004. She also delivered pizza for Dominos and Pizza Hut for 23 years. She sold Avon for 25 years and worked at GRI in Gering.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, going to Deadwood, needlework crafts, playing games on her tablet, and coloring to keep herself occupied.
She married Kenneth Nolde in February of 1955. They had two daughters Jerri and Pamela. They divorced in 1970.
She married Orin Pettis in July of 1970. They were married 30 plus years until he went home to the Lord in 2001.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jerri and Kerry Strauch; daughter Pamela Nolde and her fiancé Lloyd Kline; step-son Michael Pettis; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and brother Lloyd (Barb) Peterson.
She was preceded in death by both sets of parents; sisters Dorothy, Esther, and Kaite; and brothers Fred, John, and Victor.
As per her wishes, cremation was held and there will be no services. Her ashes will be scattered with her husband Orin’s at a later date.
