Mike was born on April 12, 1955 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Harold and Alice (Michal) Keller. He grew up in the Panhandle and had been a painter in the area for over 45 years. He married Sheri Mowry in 1982 and had two daughters. He married Debra Howard Fernau in 2009. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff. He loved fishing and camping and was always busy tinkering with projects. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. His quick wit, generosity, and excitement for life will be especially missed, but we will continue to laugh through life’s trials, as he so perfectly did.
He is survived by his wife Debbie; father Harold; daughters Melissa Urbanek of Scottsbluff and Monica (David) Schmitz of Sidney; stepsons Brandon Mowry (Jennifer) of Richardson, TX and Elgin (Jessica) Fernau of Plainview, NE; grandson Alecson Urbanek; granddaughters Leah and Aubree Schmitz; step granddaughter Cameron Mowry; step grandsons Ruger and Kort Fernau; sister Rene (Rod) Davis of Minatare; nephew Justin (Amorette) Davis; and niece Alaina (Stephen) Hulette.
His mother, grandparents, and two uncles preceded him in death.
