Olga Chao-Bennett, age 58, of Broadwater, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021. A memorial gathering for Olga will be held Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Bridgeport Memorial Chapel, 718 Main Street, Bridgeport, Nebraska 69336. Those who wish to speak and share their memories of Olga may do so from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM.
Olga was born to Jose and Olga Chao on September 6, 1963 in Havana, Cuba. When she was two years old, the family immigrated to the United States- settling in Las Vegas, NV. She became an American citizen, but always remained proud of her Cuban heritage. She graduated from Bishop Gorman High School, and later attended the University of Nevada- Las Vegas. She married Rodney Bennett on May 4, 1986 and that union lasted until 2018. She had two children and lived in Las Vegas until relocating to Broadwater, NE in 2002 where she remained until her passing.
Olga worked at Marshalls in Las Vegas for several years, and became a stay-at-home mother after the move to Nebraska. She was firm in her faith as a Christian, and was a member of the Bridgeport Church of Christ for many years. She enjoyed movies, home décor, designer handbags and had a soft spot for animals. She had a generous nature, could talk a mile-a-minute, and always spoke what was in her heart. She was a doting and sassy mother and grandmother, and will be dearly missed.
Olga’s immediate survivors include her children Heather (David) Kaster of Wymore and Joseph Bennett of Broadwater, grandchildren Evan and Harper Kaster of Wymore, sister Vivian Wolford of North Carolina, and former husband Rodney (Louise) Bennett of Broadwater. She is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Olga Chao.
