Phillip was born in Ephrata, Washington on March 15, 1978 to Bill and Jan Pierce. Phill’s family moved to Gering, Nebraska in 1978 where he went to school and graduated from Gering High School in 1996. It was apparent at an early age that Phill was a unique and intelligent individual who had a love for the outdoors, catching lizards, snakes, and anything he could keep in a bucket. He began riding 3 wheelers and motorcycles at an early age out by the Belmont Dam close to Bridgeport, Nebraska. Phill’s parents lived in Saudi Arabia when he was 5 years old and traveled overseas for a couple of years. Eventually, they settled back in Gering, Nebraska and purchased Midwest Farm Service. He followed his father’s footsteps with his love for hunting and fishing and he had a witty personality that could always make others laugh.
After a short stent of college at Western Nebraska Community College, he transferred to University of Nebraska in Lincoln where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree of Business Administration in 2002. After he graduated college he moved to Littleton, Colorado and worked for an engineering company for several years before moving home to Gering, Nebraska to help his father at Midwest Farm Service and becoming a partner.
Phill’s love for spending time on his motorcycle took him multiple times all the way through Mexico, Guatemala, even all the way to Costa Rica. He even traveled on his motorcycle to Canada and back down through California to visit his sister. In 2020, Midwest Farm Service was sold and Phil was able to retire and do what he loved most, which was traveling, riding his motorcycles, golf, and hunting and fishing. Most recently, one month ago, he and his father traveled to Guatemala for a fishing trip where they had a great time and memories.
Phillip is survived by his parents, Bill and Jan Pierce of Gering, Sister Carissa Pierce and two nieces Isabelle and Gabrielle McNabb all of Sacramento, California, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Phill is also survived by several great friends, too numerous to mention.
Phillip is preceded in death by his grandmothers DeLois Winchell and Betty Nuss and grandfathers Gene Winchell and Victor Nuss, his aunt, Janice Shafer, and one of his best friend’s Grady Costello.
Phillip was loved by so many and his loss has been heartbreaking. We all love you Phill and you will be missed.
